About

Hi, there!

I am so happy you stopped by to see what's going on in my neck of the woods. Let me give you a little run down of how things go around here.

First of all, this is me, Danielle:

(I don't always look this excited, but I'd just won $82.50! )

Anyway, I'm Danielle, but I am quite used to answering to "mom," so that works, too. Up until a few months ago, I was a full-time stay-at-home-mom, but with my youngest entering part-time preschool I headed back to work part-time. I'm still trying to find the perfect balance to my days as you can accomplish a LOT in 20 hours a week at home instead of at work! Obviously.

So a little more about me. I hate cooking and don't like cleaning. However, I like eating and having a clean house, so I suck it up and power through. I grew up with three sisters and am now raising two boys...talk about an eye opener. In an ideal world I would spend all day long knitting and making cards and paper crafting and building with Legos, but tuition doesn't pay itself. Know what I'm sayin'?

But, I'm not the only one making it possible for this little family of mine move through life. Eleven years ago I snagged this guy:

That's my hubby, J.C. Mechanical engineer by day, guitarist and singer of bedtime songs by night. Yes, this is one of the best pictures of him...parents avoid the camera like the plague. (A few years ago I bought him a 6 foot party sub for his birthday, and now giant food is kind of a joke of ours.)

We got engaged young, got married young, and then started a family, you guessed it, young. First came M.J. in late summer 2008. L.W. showed up just a little bit before Christmas in 2009.

Raising our boys has been a bit frantic. They are only 16 months and 4 days apart, so the early years were quite busy and demanding. Now that my little sugar lumps are a little older and a little more independent, I'm finding the time that I didn't have before to complete projects, which is something I love.

I truly enjoy "creating" for my family. I like being the one to make whats keeping them warm and cozy. I enjoy being a part of making the toys that keep them busy. And it thrills me to make the props that support their imaginative play. There was a time when the mom made it all, or at least almost all of it. Those days are long gone, and that's nice. But, I can't help but wonder how well I could have done it all.

So, now I just take pride it putting my heart into all I make for my family and smile widely when my boys get a compliment on one of my creations and reply, "Thanks, my mom made it!"
